Story Telling Program

On 22nd Dec 2012 (Saturday), Friends Society, under its PFL program (Program for Future Leaders) conducted Story Telling program at Baroda High School, Alkapuri, Vadodara. The program was held from 9:45 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. at School Auditorium for students of 2 sections of Class IX (about 100 students)
In beginning of the program, volunteers stated Aim and Objectives of conducting the Story Telling Program and also introduced Friend Society in brief.
The slides of the story “The Solitary Cyclist” were displayed. The students were divided in 4 groups. Each group was given printout of different slides, with each group to weave a story based on their slide within the time duration of 10 minutes. During this time period the volunteers along with Gowri Aunty personally attended all the four groups and guided them with their efforts.
Out of 4 groups, only 1 group could correctly guess the story and one by one all 4 groups came on stage to present their story.
Volunteers concluded the program by describing the uses of story telling, such as during family get together, school picnic, family function, telling film story among friends circle, as a school activity etc. Volunteers also highlighted that such programs also help students build their language skills as well their analytic powers.
Students were very excited with this activity and showed their interest of conducting it again for the next time.
